The Nyonya Kebaya

The Nyonya Kebaya is a traditional blouse worn by women of the Peranankan Chinese community. It is a translucent blouse typically made of voile, a sheer light weight fabric. It's adorned with intricate embroidered motifs known as 'sulam'. It is usually worn over a camisole and fastened with a set of 3 interlinked brooches called Kero Sang. A batik skirt completes the whole ensemble.

The creation of a Nyonya Kebaya is  a labor of love, a meticulous process blending precise measurements, skilful drafting, intricate embroidery and delicate sewing.
